Nanowrimo Week #1
Three days into Nanowrimo and I'm going strong. The average to type per day is 1,667 words, which will add up to 50,000 words at the end of the month. I'm not sure how many pages that is, but it's quite a few. Definitely novel length.
I don't want to jinx myself and type about how I'm doing so well, and then slack off as the month goes on, even though I just did, but my idea has enough meat to keep on going...I'm not too concerned about running out of storyline. Instead, with my idea (I've been hording it for about six months) there seems to be a lot more back story than I anticipated. I sit down and the pressures on. If I don't make it at least 1,667 words than I feel like a failure.
If I keep averaging 2,000 words per day, I should be able to pound out 60,000 words or more, if I keep my head up.
The thing about Nanowrimo, it's not about editing and creating the perfect story -- it's like one large freewrite. You ingore certain conventions of the writing process just so you can get your idea down. The website says "December is for editing."
